The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) have joined forces to form the annual ASC-AGC National Student Competition (NSC). The competition is held every spring in conjunction with the AGC Annual Convention, competing teams are comprised of 6 students and 1 coach.

Students from across the country participate in their Regional Competition first. This competition also includes a Residential division. Those that win their division qualify for the National Competition and an all expense paid trip to the AGC Annual Convention, along with complementary convention registration.

The NSC enables AGC- and ASC-affiliated undergraduate construction students to participate in bidding scenarios that simulate the real-life process. The teams are judged on presentation skills, creativity, understanding of sound construction techniques and thoughtful methodology. Each team can compete in one of three divisions: Commercial, Design-Build and Heavy-Civil.

The ASC-AGC Task Force presents the winning team of each division with a gift for each student and a plaque for the school. These teams are also recognized during the Annual Build America Dinner. The sponsoring companies of each division are then at liberty to award prizes as they deem fit. Monetary awards for the schools are usually given, along with trophies for the school and each member of the winning team.
